After watching Mrs. McKnights interview, I am confident in my ability to come up with a statement, and that I leave consent the courage to follow through with it.The most significant thing in a true leadership purpose statement is reliableity fit in to Mrs. McKnight. Websters defines authenticity as real or genuine. Taking this and Mrs. McKnights statements into account I besidesk a minute to hypothesise or so how authentic I am. I realized that I know myself well enough to know where my strengths and weaknesses lie. I liked that she mentioned having the courage to follow what you deeply want.To me, people who can follow a path to what they want while sticking to it through the good times and the bad are really courageous. Emotional parole was another key area brought up in the interview. The three areas that were brought up under this topic are self sentience, social awareness and self regulation. Our textbook book offers another interesting point that supports Mrs. McKnights insights. The text book says that mental intelligence will get you into a management position but it stops b eing helpful after entry into that position.A leader needs to have good emotional intelligence to continue to lead. Self awareness has to do with my purpose and I am working towards finding that in this class. I know that I worry about how other people grasp me but I do not think that is the same thing as recognizing it, which is social awareness. I think that I will have to slip away some time mastering the first two elements of emotional intelligence before I can work on self regulation. I do not know how I can stick to a path and make corrections to get back to it, until I have established a clear path.There were some interesting comments made about behaviors that help us get closer to our purpose. A reflective practice of checking in in two ways a day was brought up. I thought about how I might do this and I know that I would struggle with this significantly. I worry about how honest I would be with myself, so I would have to check in with my wife or a close friend that will dungeon honest with my feelings. I would have never thought that some kind of physical activity would help me get closer to my purpose.After hearing Mrs. McKnight talk about these practices I can see how it would help. A great example of a physical activity that can help you is the one Mrs. Enders gave on how put and stance help the way people perceive you as a leader. I hunch over, it is mainly because I am tall and do not like being overly imposing to others. It is something that I can work on physically that might help me with my purpose. The examples of purpose statements that were given were amazing.I think that the statement I am a drop of water, flowing peacefully, showing love carving deep canyons out of granite was an insightful statement. I think this will stay with me for a long time not because of how insightful I found it but because of the story that went with it. The fact that the CEO was able to recognize that he was not following his statement and quit his job in order to find a path back to it, was very inspirational. I want to have that kind of courage and belief in my purpose statement and I will think of this story heavily, while I am creating it.After watching this interview a few times in preparation for this paper, it really helped me get a grasp on the concept of a leadership purpose statement. This interview has given me a good set of tools for not only creating a good purpose statement, but lettered how to stay true to it, and knowing how to deal with obstacles I will face while trying to live by it. It is important that teachers take into consideration the influence their classroom arrangement can make on their students.The environment of a classroom se nds out symbolic messages to those who enter the classroom. At times, these messages do not send the right message to the students. The environment should reflect the beliefs and values of the teacher. Therefore, it is vitally important that teachers see what message their classroom sends out. In order to properly design an effective classroom environment there are quatern goals that need to be considered. The four goals are 1. Developing a sense of belonging and personal identity 2. Enhancing competence and pledge 3. Promoting intellectual growth and stimulation 4.Accommodating privacy needfully Developing a Sense of Belonging and Personal Identity According to Savage (2007), Feelings of ownership and personal identity are enhanced by allowing students to move in decision making about the use of the space the grouping of desks, room decorations, and organization and placement of learning centers. Allowing them the freedom to personalize their classroom helps students to initi ate a sense of belonging and pride When a student is in a classroom where their personal identity is enhanced the student will then looking that they belong and have a sense of ownership.There are many hours that a student spends in their lifetime, so it is important that they are in an environment where they feel comfortable and in result will be more willing to want to learn Enhancing Competence and Security The students need to feel as though they have control of their own environment Giving the students the ability to arrange their own environment will enhance their ability to feel safe The functional purpose of a space is to provide a sense of security for those in the room. Most students have their own sense of security in their own home.This is the same level of security that should be taken into the classroom since the students are spending the majority of their time in school. The first spirit into helping making a safe environment is choosing furniture that is appropria te for the students in terms of size and their learning levels. Examples of this would include comfortable seating and shelter work stations. Since every student is different some schools are now offering furniture that is flexible in meeting the students personal necessitate. Promoting Intellectual Growth and Stimulation.In order to accomplish intellectual growth inside the classroom this would require a rich and varied environment. The classroom needs to be a dynamic and changing environment for the students. Often times classroom become stagnant and do not change. This will result for the class to become boring and promote behavior problems by the symbolism it is sending to the students. Changes that need to occur in the classroom often include updating the publicize board and dis sportsman areas. This simple task is a great way to help promote intellectual growth within the classroom and give the whimsy that its a dynamic and changing environment.However, some often changes should be avoided such as room arrangement and student seating. This can cause the student to feel unsafe in an environment they are unfamiliar with. The room arrangement should be created for the student to feel secure. It is important that if changes are going to be do that the teacher has quick access to all the students. Accommodating Privacy Needs Privacy that is given to students in the classroom has a large impact on their learning behavior One way of accommodating the privacy need is to designate one corner of the classroom as a private work area.However, it is a trying task to provide privacy for all students with the small space that is given and the amount of people inside the room. In the majority of classrooms, teacher design the layout to help accommodate group activities and social interactions. It is often that this type of layout does allow for the necessary privacy that students may need. . When the teacher designs the classroom it is important to look upon this fact. Some students work better alone and away from other students. This area can be separated from the rest of the room by bookcases, file cabinets, or study carrels.Students move to that area to study or simply be alone. Providing this type of retreat for students communicates that you are sensitive to their personal needs well-disposed environment Positive educational environments are necessary to facilitate optimally adaptive student outcomes, including learning, motivation, school adjustment, and achievement (Eccles, Wigfield, & Schiefele, 1998). If they come to an incorrect solution, they are encouraged to try again or to try another method acting of problem solving. Children are not belittled, punished, or embarrassed when they do not succeed or meet their own goals.The childs worth is not determined by his test score or performance. The child is valued because she is a member of the class. In an emotionally safe classroom, teachers make mistakes. They share these mistakes with children and sometimes elicit the childrens help in solving their problem. Stress Contemporary schoolchildren bring many forms of stress with them to the classroom. The stre ss can take the form of academic pressure, familial pressure to perform, being part of a single-parent family, hurried schedules, and pressure to grow up too fast (Elkind, 1988 Bluestein, 2001).The pressure can come from school, home, or the media. Stress causes wear on bodily systems and when one is overstressed, the immune system can be directly affected. Stress uses up energy reserves, demands a greater amount of energy, and forces the body to respond physically through aggression, outbursts, or illness (Elkind, 1988). Stress can be reduced by making sure childrens basic needs are met, they feel safe, and they are able to take risks without fear of failure and by having appropriate expectations of children at specific ages. Play, Pleasure, and Fun.Part of developing intrapersonal intelligence is being able to freely engage in pleasurable experiences and recognizing that pleasure, fun, and play are a normal and healthy part of life. Play can encourage the personal intelligences i n a variety of ways Puppetry can offer the child an opportunity to communicate feelings and emotions in a nonthreatening environment. The hammy play area can have props available to encourage children to explore different familial and community roles. Children can begin to establish empathy through role-playing and risk-taking.The dramatic play and music area can also offer culturally appropriate props and instruments. Therefore, they are including the impact of these elements on the residents on a personal, social, and organizational level to explain the complexities involved in the phenomena, and t o inform constituencies (Newman et al., 2003). McGrath & Pistrang (2007) examine the past in order to interpret and reinterpret findings, examine discrepancies and consistencies, and examine social and historical origins of the current social issue.The authors accomplish this by mentioning that there has been little research focusing on the psychological issues related to the experiences of homeless individuals, and the need to study the issue in a social context. (2009). I was also able to identify several of the nine features of the purpose statement, as proposed by Newman et al. Comparing and Contrasting “The Necklace” and “The Gift of the Magi” Essay

The main character in The Necklaces, and the main character in The devote of the Magis, personalities resist from one another vastly. In The Necklace, the main character Mathilde Loisel is an ungrateful middle class woman who seeks wealth and admiration. Alternatively, the main character in The Gift of the Magi, Della Young, is compassionate and works very hard to obtain her conserve a present, and ultimately, selling the one thing that was more precious to her than anything else, her hair. Mathilde is selfish, and when her friend, Madame Foreister is sympathetic enough to let her sweep up her jewelry, Mathilde asks rudely, Havent you anything else? (Maupassant, 39). In contrast, Della is very appreciative when she receives a hair capitulation, and is very unselfish when giving forth her hair to buy a present for her husband. Mathilde and Della be to a fault both remotely poor. In the commencement ceremony of The Necklace, Mathilde and her husband were pretty well off, not to o rich, and very simple.But at the end of the story, they are dirt poor, having spent 10 long time paying debts. In The Necklace, Mathilde and her husband spend around of their young life paying off a huge debt because of a diamond necklace that she had lost. 10 years later, she ran into the friend from whom she borrowed the necklace from, and found out that the necklace they thought was thirty-six thousand francs was only five hundred.The Gift of the Magi terminate in a more comical irony than The Necklaces cynical irony. Della had cut her long, lushes hair to buy Jim a chain for his pocket watch, and Jim sold his prized pocket watch to buy Della a lavish pin for her hair. The Young couple didnt mind that they both bought so mething the other one no longer needed, they were just happy to have each other. People are confronted with choices every day, and in The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant and The Gift of the Magi, by O. Henry, the main characters make subconscious choices to act selfish, or to act grateful.
